This coffee is organically-cultivated by family-owned farms in Popayán, a municipality in the Cauca valley in western Colombia not far from the Pacific coast. The families, each of which grows coffee on an average of 1.5 hectares of land, organise themselves around the Association of Ecological Coffee Producers of Cauca, Colombia (ACEC). The ACEC, with a membership of 500, provides training to help improve the quality of coffee and to manage the environmental impact of cultivation on the region.
